Team Crackship Needs You!

Journal Entry: Sat Feb 6, 2010, 10:42 AM
In case you didn't know, I am participating in the Star Trek "Ship Wars" over on livejournal and we've reached our second round of recruitment. Team Crackship is incredibly small at the moment, and yet we've manage to win the grand prize for the past three prompts, which pretty much makes us awesome!

Anyway, we're looking for some people who like to write fic, do art, make vids, or generally just revel in crackshippyness. If you're interested please go to [link] and sign up!

So I thought I might want to mention that Chelsea and I are having a sale on all of our plushies on etsy! All squids and Monsters have free shipping! Which doesn't really matter to most of you since I know you personally and can just *hand* you the plushie if you really want it but there you go.

For those not in the know, our joint deviantart account is :iconpancakes-no-jutsu:

YAY!!

Ps. I am currently locked out of the apartment with everyone out of the state and no one card and all the buildings on campus (including blanchard and the library!) are not only closed but *locked* and I am sitting in Thirsty Mind and I am cold and hungry. THIS IS ME BITCHING!!

FIRST RULE!!!!

Fri Oct 16, 2009, 9:37 AM
So I was browsing through the artisan craft section today while I was working... because working is boring. un... and I saw a most heinous violation of THE FIRST RULE OF COSPLAY!!

For those who don't know me personally... and if you don't know me personally why would you be reading this? the first rule of cosplay is as follows:

Never Never NEVER Cosplay and Nazi.

don't.

"but why?" my stranger internet buddy might ask "is that the first rule? What about satin? Satin is terrible! and what about wearing clothes that cover your body? and what about Make up?!"

Well, my dear online stalker, those are all important parts of cosplay. But the first rule is still the first rule. It is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING you should consider when choosing a character to cosplay. Always ask yourself: "Is this person a nazi?" before continuing to make you pattern and create your costume.

"Well thats east," the hordes of followers I have on deviantart may say "I dress up like anime characters, and they are not nazis."

WRONG!!!

There are many of you who may be cosplaying Nazis without knowing it!! However, there are many ways that you can make sure that you are not inadvertently violating the first rule.

For instance:

If you are cosplaying APH's Germany, you are not necessarily breaking the first rule, however there are some important things that you must do to make sure that you do not step into nazi territory.

FIRST: If someone "heils" you (like those jackasses I saw at anime evolution) say "NO!" and then glare. No means no.

Second: Remind yourself and everyone else that you are the anthropomorphic personification of a country which participated in WWII but you in no way represent or support the horrendous actions of that country's government.

Third: Hang out with an Italy, that's cute

There also many of you who, because of your love for one particular show, *cough* Hellsing *cough*, may decide to cosplay a character who is actually a nazi in the show. My response to this idea is DON'T.

Schrodinger may be adorable and cute and a catboy and everything you've ever dreamed of in the adorable little minion of evil department but PLEASE DO NOT COSPLAY HIM. Seriously guys. Even if you replace the swastika with a happy face (yes I have seen it done, and yes I am still offended) he is *still* a nazi and it is *still* inappropriate.

And so, I submit to you, the reasons why you should never *ever* cosplay Shrodinger or Rumpelstiltskin, or any other nazi ever.

1. You are wearing a symbol of genocide/ethnic cleaning/killing of thousands of people and It's not funny.

2.If you are at a con, or even just wearing it about, you will go outside where there are lots of people who don't know anything about anime or cosplay. They won't see you dresses as the adorable yet malicious kitty of your Hellsing dreams/nightmares... They will see you wearing a hitler youth outfit. And you will get lynched. Nothing is harder to clean out of your home-made costume than liters of your own blood.

3. Other con-goers and cosplay enthusiasts will see you at conventions and say to themselves (and their friends) "Gee, I sure loved that show. But that person is dressing like a Nazi. What an asshole" Then they WON'T TAKE YOUR PICTURE.

So... Dear cosplayers on deviantart and in the rest of the world who are posting pictures of thier brand new swastika armband. Think. Look at yourself. And TAKE THE COSTUME OFF.

-Sincerely Ima Super Mute Ant
